Success for All

Success for All (SFA) Beginning the 2017-2018 school year, Moneta Elementary School is implementing a new, comprehensive reading and social skills program called Success for All (SFA) for students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

Success for All teaches reading skills such as phonics, comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency as well as conflict resolution skills that prepare students to solve problems and work in cooperative groups.

How does it work?

Students in first through fifth grades are placed in flexible groupings and may go to other teachers’ classrooms for reading instruction on their levels.  Students participate in this 90 minute reading block from 8:00-9:30 each school day.

Kindergarten students remain in their homeroom classes throughout the entire school day.  Reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and social skills are interwoven into the Success for All curriculum.

How can you help at home?

  • Ensure your child completes nightly Read and Respond homework forms

  • Ask comprehension questions at home after reading

  • Practice letter sounds, words from Shared Stories in Roots, and vocabulary words in Wings

  • Talk to your child’s teacher about his or her progress

  • Celebrate your child’s accomplishments
