Reading Wings

Reading Wings is the Success for All curriculum for second through fifth grade level.  Students are assessed each nine-weeks and placed in the appropriate reading group according to assessment results.  Students read narrative and informational trade books.

The instructional components of Reading Wings are:

  • Comprehension- Students listen to and read books to build comprehension.

  • Vocabulary- Students work individually, in partners, and in teams to learn new vocabulary and use the words in meaningful sentences.

  • Fluency- Students practice reading accurately, smoothly, with expression, and at the targeted rate.

  • Writing- Students practice writing skills on the sixth day of each lesson.  Students complete the writing process in stages including prewriting, planning, drafting, editing, and revising.
