Welcome to Ms. Moore's Physical Education Class

Hello! Welcome Back! I am returning for my third year at Moneta and Montvale Elementary and I am very excited to be here for this new school year. I am a Roanoke local and played Volleyball and Basketball at Roanoke College. My goal this year is to create a fun and positive outlook on physical education, fitness, and a healthy lifestyle. I have designed a program for children that helps them develop the physical and nutritional competence that leads to confidence and participation in physical activity and healthy choices for a lifetime. My goal is to help children find a variety of ways to enjoy being physically active so that they will be able to get all of the physical, emotional, intellectual and social benefits that come to someone who is physically active.

Things to Remember:

- Please make sure your child wears tennis shoes on their P.E. day for comfort and safety purposes. Sandals without a back-strap, flip flops and boots are NOT allowed for PE.

- Physical activity must be done regularly to achieve health benefits. It is very important that your child participates on a daily basis

- If you child has an injury or illness that prevents them from participating, please send a note with your child. Please send a doctor's note if the injury or illness will be for an extended period of time.

- Experts recommend 60 minutes of physical activity a day. Since your child does not have P.E. each day, we ask that you encourage them to be outside or doing some sort of activity while they are home.

I hope that by participating in our physical education program, children will enjoy being active, learn important fitness concepts, develop good social skills, and maintain a positive self-concept.
